A large army of overseas-based professionals will storm the Nigeria U23 team camp after a home-based team struggled to impress in a test match against Remo Stars.
The home-based U23s were held to a scoreless draw by NNL side Remo Stars in a friendly.
Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle, who also doubles as coach of the U23s, is not leaving anything to chance to ensure Nigeria go past DR Congo later this month in an U23 AFCON qualifier and so he has called up a good number of eligible players from abroad to fortify the team.
The Super Eagles coach has been tracking these pros since last summer and has already capped some of them at full international level.
The foreign pros include Abdullahi Bewene (Banik Ostrava, Czech), Peter Edokpolor (Benfica, Portugal), Isaac James (Alverca, Portugal) and Abdullahi Umar (Hradec Kralove, Czech).
The foreign pros will fly into Nigeria after the weekend matches with their clubs.
DR Congo welcome Nigeria to Lubumbashi on Friday, November 13, with the return leg in Ikenne four days later.
The winners of this tie will progress to the third round playoffs slated for March 2027.
The 2027 U23 AFCON in Egypt will be the qualifying tournament for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
