After a disastrous 2026 World Cup and now going four UEFA Nations League games without any points, Turkey have sacked Italian coach Vincenzo Montella.
The Turkeish football federation announced that Montella has left his post with immediate effect.
There were a total of 40 international matches since he took over the team in September 2023.
“It has been decided to end the collaboration with our A-national team’s head coach, Vincenzo Montella,” the association announced.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, former international Arda Turan will take over the position.
Turan represented clubs such as Atlético Madrid, Barcelona and Galatasaray during his career.
For Turkey, he won 100 caps and 17 goals. Today, he coaches Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk.
