Young Nigerian central defender Akpe Victory is already a wanted man by several top clubs across Europe after less than three months at FC Basel.
The 20-year-old defender joined FC Basel only in July 2026 and has already been linked with several European clubs, with Glasgow Rangers and Benfica reportedly showing interest in the defender.
The possibility of a quick transfer arose after Basel’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, Andreas Herrmann, confirmed the club had received offers in the high single-digit million range for at least one young player during the summer.
While it remains unconfirmed if those specific offers were for Victory, David Degen was also said to be clearly against selling a player so soon after their arrival.
His contract with the Swiss club is valid until June 2030, and his current market value, according to Transfermarkt, is €2.00m. His transfer to Basel from Hungarian club Zalaegerszegi TE was for a reported €3 million.
Prior to that transfer, in May 2026, interest from Rangers was connected to a bid of more than €5 million, while Benfica’s potential investment was valued at approximately €5 million.
