Besides the uncertainties caused by the Coronavirus Pandemic, these are also tough times for Gbenga Arokoyo, John Chibuike and several other Nigeria stars in Sweden as they are in the final year of their contracts.
Arokoyo now 27 is on the books of Kalmar, while Chibuike, 31, features for another top-league club Falkenbergs FF after stints in Turkey and Israel.
Peter Nsima’s deal at Falkenbergs also runs out by season’s end. He is 31.
Moses Ogbu, 29, also faces the same fate at Mjallby AIF after he recently agreed a year’s deal on return to Sweden after he terminated his contract in England.
Other Nigerians whose contract will soon run out are former Golden Eaglets star Edafe Egbedi and striker Oke Akpoveta at second division Norrby IF.
Egbedi is 26 now, while 28-year-old Akpoveta has an option for additional year on his own contract.
Top Swedish club Hammarby have suspended negotiations for contract extension of four of their players because of the uncertainties caused by the Coronavirus Pandemic.
