Amid uncertainties over his future at Nottingham Forest, goal hero Taiwo Awoniyi has declared he is still a player for the Premier League.
Awoniyi scored his first goal in almost a year Sunday for Forest to go past hosts Brentford 2-0 in continuation of the Premier League.
However, the striker has suffered from lack of game time at Forest with the latest report suggesting he could now be loaned out to former German club Mainz 05 for the rest of the season.
Awoniyi though was clear he still belongs in the English top league.
“I have always believed I am a Premier player, I am about playing and getting goals. I have not been playing regularly, that’s why there are no goals,” he stated after his heroics in London.
“Yeah it’s really a big win, because we’ve always worked hard, our focus is three points, which we got and we got clean sheet, that’s great team effort.
“We work hard, fight for each other. For me, the most important thing is to do my best for the team, get the goal and result, so the result of other teams doesn’t matter so far we are doing the job.
“Every centre-forward wants to get goals.”
