Top camp sources have told SCORENigeria that Fulham winger Samuel Chukwueze was one of the Super Eagles best penalty kick takers in training, while Victor Osimhen was not so great from the penalty spot.
Chukwueze’s penalty miss in a 2025 AFCON semifinal against hosts Morocco has enraged fans leading to the heavy abuse of the player on social media.
He delivered a tame kick that the Morocco goalkeeper easily saved for the Super Eagles to fall 4-2 on penalties to the home team and thus fail to reach Sunday’s AFCON final.
“The Super Eagles always practised penalties and Chukwueze was one of the their best penalty scorers in training, he was making 10 out of 10 of his penalty kicks,” the source informed SCORENigeria
“Osimhen was not so great with his penalty kicks even though he takes them for his club.
“It was based on this that Chukwueze was brought in for the penalty shootout.”
