Fears have been raised whether the young son of former Super Eagles defender Furo Iyenemi has made the right decision to move to the Premier League even when he has yet to establish himself at Belgian side Club Brugge.
Kaye Furo, 18, is set to complete a 10 million euros transfer to Brentford.
According to former Belgium star Franky Van Der Elst, Club Brugge are doing excellent business with Furo’s departure to Brentford. “
“For Club Brugge, yes, ten million euros for a youth player… then you have to accept that,” Van Der Elst told Het Belang van Limburg.
“I just don’t know if the transfer is such a good step for Furo himself.
“There’s a lot coming at that guy now. It could also be the beginning of a long journey.”
Van Der Elst said he hopes young striker Furo will succeed at Brentford, even though that won’t be easy with Igor Thiago (formerly of Club Brugge) ahead of him.
“They might loan him out, but where would that land you? Hopefully, he’ll be in the first team as soon as possible, but of course, Thiago will be right there,” he concluded.
