Super Falcons forward Esther Okoronkwo has reacted angrily to not making the three-person shortlist for the 2025 CAF Player of the Year Award.
Canada-based star was the star of the delayed 2024 WAFCON final, which Nigeria won 3-2 against hosts Morocco after fighting back from two goals down.
She also made the CAF Best XI for the tournament.
However, Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade and Morocco stars Ghizlane Chebbak and Sanaa Mssoudy made the final cut ahead of tomorrow’s awards ceremony in Rabat, Morocco.
Okoronkwo reacted to this shortlist by saying, “CAF decision is noted, but my main focus stays on the pitch – where recognition is earned, not awarded.”
