Against the backdrop of FIFA docking 3 points and 3 goals from Bafana Bafana of South Africa, coach Hugo Broos has maintained his team have proved on the pitch that they deserve to play at next year’s World Cup.
South Africa, who have recorded 14 points from eight matches, have now slipped to second in Group C of the qualifying series with Benin climbing to the summit on a better goals’ difference.
“From the performances in the last two years, there’s only one team that deserves to be at the World Cup,” Hugo Broos said ahead of their Friday clash against Zimbabwe in Durban in continuation of the World Cup qualifying tournament.
“We did what we had to do.”
The Belgian coach said the FIFA decision may have “changed the situation a little bit” but that has not changed their approach to win their final two matches against Zimbabwe and Rwanda.
