One of the biggest posers for the Super Eagles starting XI for tomorrow’s must-win 2026 World Cup qualifier against Rwanda is whether the hard-running Frank Onyeka will be selected.
The Brentford defensive midfielder established himself in the Super Eagles midfield with his tireless running at last year’s 2023 AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire.
Onyeka did so with fresh energy and drive in the absence of Wilfred Ndidi, who missed the tournament no thanks to injury.
Will Onyeka now play alongside the tiring Wilfred Ndidi in midfield tomorrow?
Coach Eric Chelle has picked Ndidi for his first two official games against Rwanda and Zimbabwe in March as Onyeka was not called up.
Onyeka, 27, played his first game in a 2-1 win over Ghana in the Unity Cup in May with Ndidi playing in central defence.
Onyeka and Ndidi also started in the penalty shootout win over Jamaica also in London.
Onyeka also started for the Super Eagles in a 1-1 draw with hosts Russia in Moscow in June.
It is now left to be seen how Eric Chelle will line out his midfield.
