In what looks like a grand design to slow down the Super Eagles, South Africa have insisted both players and fans will now have to apply for entry visas for next week’s decisive 2026 World Cup qualifier in Bloemfontein.
This morning as many as 10 players have to be at the South Africa High Commission in Abuja to apply for their visas before they fly out to training camp in Uyo.
The players include Moses Simon, Benjamin Fredrick and Adebayo Adeleye.
They will only fly out to Uyo later today because of this visa requirement.
The NFF have also put in place an arrangement for some other players to apply for their visas at the Lagos office of the South African High Commission.
It was also understood that as a result of this measure the 150 fans who were to be part of the match in South Africa will no longer make the chartered flight.
The Super Eagles will battle Bafana Bafana Tuesday in continuation of the qualifying tournament for the 2026 World Cup.
South Africa top the standings on 13 points, while Nigeria are fourth with seven points.
