Wilfred Ndidi’s transfer from KRC Genk to Premier League club Leicester City in May 2017 has been ranked as the seventh most expensive transfer in Belgium.
Leicester City splashed 17.6 million Euros on the defensive midfielder to snap him from Belgium.
Interestingly, Ndidi’s valuation on the transfer market is now more than triple on the back of his sparkling displays for ‘The Foxes’.
The biggest transfer in Belgium involved another midfielder, Youri Tielemans, who moved to AS Monaco from Anderlecht.
However, it is most likely that Genk midfielder Sander Berg could topple Tielemans at the top of the cash tree should he finalise his transfer to Premier League club Sheffield United in this window.
From the current top 10, no fewer than 9 are from the last five seasons and even seven from the last three seasons. Money is therefore becoming increasingly important in today’s football and Belgium has once again become a transit country.
