Abakaliki FC are the Cindrella Club of the 2025 Federation Cup after they accounted for another NPFL team Nasarawa United to set up a very intriguing semifinal against Ikorodu City, who have hogged the headlines for punching above their weight in their first season in Nigeria’s top league.
NNL outfit Abakaliki booted out two-time Africa champions Enyimba in the Round of 16, before they eliminated Nasarawa United today to reach the last four of the cup competition.
The reward for their exploits is a date with history against Ikorodu City, who are still in the race to finish in the Top-3 in the NPFL besides reaching the semifinal of the Federation Cup for the first time.
Ikorodu City ended their cup dreams of NNL team Wikki Tourists today in Bwari by the odd goal.
The other Federation Cup semifinal is an all-NPFL affair between Enugu Rangers and Kwara United.
