It has been alleged that Bayer Leverkusen winger Nathan Tella was “badly treated” and will not play again for the Super Eagles after he made his international debut in November 2023.
SCORENigeria investigations showed that Tella declined his last two call-ups by the Super Eagles.
First, for personal reasons and most recently he withdrew for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe due to injury at his German Bundesliga club.
“Tella is clearly unhappy with the Super Eagles,” a source told SCORENigeria
“He felt badly treated leading up to his debut against Zimbabwe in Rwanda.
“That explains why he has since not played for the team again.”
The former Southampton winger, who was born in England but opted to play for Nigeria, has enjoyed a bigger role at German champions Leverkusen this season after a tentative debut season.
Coach Eric Chelle had hoped Tella will challenge Samuel Chukwueze for the starting right wing position in the Super Eagles.
