Gent defender Jordan Torunarigha was disappointed after he did not see action with the Super Eagles in crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, according to his father.
“He’s bitter he didn’t play, he’s not happy at all because he did not play even a minute,” ex- international Ojokojo Torunarigha told Kenny Ogunmiloro on Blast FM Ibadan
“But I have tried to encourage him, told him to keep his calm, I talk to him and he listens.”
The younger Torunarigha, a central defender, has represented Germany up to Olympic team level before he switched international allegiance to Nigeria.
He was first approached by coach Gernot Rohr, before Jose Peseiro called him up.
Torunarigha senior admitted that in 2017 he advised his son to play for Germany ahead of Nigeria because he was born in Germany and he has lived all his life there.
