It’s been a tough battle with injury for Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo that he even feared he won’t play football again.
The experienced central defender was sidelined for about three months with a knee injury.
Speaking via an X space, the defender explained how difficult and frustrating it has been to get back to shape and regain his top level.
“This period has been the toughest,” he explained
“People close to me knew what I went through.
“It got me thinking a lot, I had even registered in an Open University in Nigeria.
“It got to a stage where, after the surgery, I was thinking; ‘I can’t even walk, how would i run?’”.
“It got me to appreciate people who have gone through ACL’s. The process is long.”
He continued: “It was just last week I started walking normally, I can join the team in some training sessions , I started feeling good like I can still play football.
“Three to four weeks ago I was thinking I won’t be able to play again. It has been the most difficult period and I’m really happy I can go back to what I love doing.”
