Nigeria’s U17 women’s team, the Flamingos, started their campaign at the Women’s U17 World Cup in the Dominican Republic with an impressive 4-1 win over New Zealand with captain Taiwo Afolabi promising more victories and good football.
“I want Nigerians to expect good results, great wins and they should keep supporting us,” she vowed.
Taiwo Afolabi said the victory over New Zealand was good as most of her teammates were playing at this level for the first time.
“Well it was a good game from the girls because that is their first World Cup, apart from me, it was a good game,” she offered.
Afolabi said she was thrilled by her Player of the Match Award and goal.
“I feel grateful, I feel good for the goal and MOTM award, all thanks to Adegoke Taiwo for the assist,” she said.
