Despite losing their first two group games at the Paris 2024 Olympics, the Super Falcons are still in with a chance of advancing to the last-eight of the competition from a wide-open Group C.
The 12-team tournament allows for the top two teams from the three groups to reach the quarterfinal with the two best losers also going through.
The nine-time African champions are currently bottom of the group without any points or goals.
They also have a -2 goals difference.
Spain have already qualified for the knockout stage with six points from two matches.
Japan are second in the group with three points, zero goals difference having scored three goals and conceded as many.
Brazil are third also on three points, nil goals difference, scored two goals and let in as many. They have scored less goals than Japan.
The South Americans lead the Best Losers standings ahead of Australia (three points, -2 goals difference).
On Wednesday in Nantes, the Super Falcons will now need to beat 2011 world champions Japan by at least two unreplied goals and hope already-qualified Spain do them a big favour by beating Brazil in the other Group C match.
That will get them three points and a zero goals difference, while Japan and Brazil, both on three points each, will drop in the standings on goals difference.
