Super Falcons coach Randy Waldrum has said he is looking forward to today’s friendly against reigning Olympics champions Canada as it will be a good test for his team.
Both teams will use the match to gauge their readiness for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The warm-up game will kick off 5.30pm in Marbella, Spain, and it will be played behind closed doors.
“We are expecting a great game, the players have worked extremely hard, unfortunately few players came into the camp a little bit late, but the level has been extremely high,” Waldrum told the Super Falcons Show.
“The players are focused and looking forward to the Olympics. The friendly will allow us work on a couple of things that we have practiced so far in training.
“It will also help us see some players, to look for the best combinations ahead of our opening game against Brazil.
“I think everyone one is ready. The players are tired of playing against each other. They are ready to face a good team. We are all looking forward to the game against Canada.”
A year ago, both teams played out a goalless draw at the Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand with Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie saving a penalty.
