Manu Garba begs for Golden Eaglets to be included in U17 AFCON

Coach Manu Garba has begged the authorities to reconsider having the semifinalists of the WAFU B U17 AFCON in the tournament final next month.

The Golden Eaglets placed third at the WAFU B U17 AFCON qualifying tournament when they defeated hosts Ghana 3-2 in the playoffs.

“WAFU have produced good teams for the FIFA U17 World Cup, we as Nigeria have won the World Cup five times, Cote d’Ivoire also reached the semifinals,” Manu said.

“CAF will therefore do well to take all four semifinalists to the U17 AFCON.”

CAF have said next year’s U17 AFCON will only have 12 teams even though FIFA have expanded the 2025 U17 World Cup to 48 teams.
