NFF technical director Augustine Eguavoen has disclosed that Super Eagles coach Finidi George, who until his appointment was coach of champions Enyimba, will work with players based locally.
“There is a percentage of players from the domestic league who will always be part of the Super Eagles,” Eguavoen said.
Speculations are rife that at least four players based in Nigeria will be called up for next month’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin.
The Super Eagles have for many years now been dominated by overseas-based stars.
Enyimba goalkeeper Olorunleke Ojo was the only home-based player on the Eagles squad to the AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire in February.
