Victor Boniface will not stage his comeback today against Hoffenheim and he is now likely to play his first official game of the year for Bayer Leverkusen midweek.
The striker needed surgery for a major groin injury he suffered while in training camp with the Super Eagles in Dubai ahead of the recent AFCON.
He has since returned to full team training with Leverkusen.
Leverkusen take on Fortuna Dusseldorf in the German Cup Wednesday night.
They are 10 points clear of reigning champions Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga with eight rounds of matches to the end of the season.
