A shinning CAF Player of the Year Award, which eluded Nigeria for 24 years, will now sit proudly in the cabinet of honours of Victor Osimhen.
Add a historic Scudetto, Serie A Player of last season voted by the players themselves as well as the Goal King gong to this and you already have a record Osimhen should be proud of.
The 24-year-old striker has carved a place for himself alongside the top stars of world football.
Could he now go on to join the legends of the sport by racking up more trophies and personal honours?
His lion-king character has already propelled him past humble beginnings in the Lagos slum of Olusosun and a rather tough start to life in Europe with German club Wolfsburg.
The football world remains very fickle – you are the darling, the hero today and the next day the mob is up in arms against you.
In his congratulatory message, his agent spoke of the future belonging to Osimhen.
Napoli has been a massive launch pad for him and he in turn has made the most of this by what he delivered last season.
He needed a private jet to shuttle across to Morocco for the CAF Awards and back in time for Tuesday night’s UEFA Champions League home tie against Sporting Braga.
There was an element of luck to his goal on the night, otherwise he lacked the usual service he needs to get the goals.
His main supply line ‘Kvaradona’ Khvica Kavartskhelia is a lot less selfless as he now also wants more of the spotlight as was the case with the likes of Lorenzo Insigne two seasons ago.
Napoli, a shadow of the top team of last season, themselves are far adrift of contending for the title this season and will not successfully defend the Scudetto they won last term.
Osimhen has run his course at Napoli and must now take a career-defining decision where his shooting boots will propel him to greatness.
Since he resisted the temptation of accepting the fortune Saudi Arabian football dangled before him, the Premier League ought to be his next destination.
The money is good in England, so also the media hype and most crucially his style is made for the high-tempo Premier League.
Chelsea and Arsenal have already been linked to him, but he needs a lot more stable Premier League club who are always challenging for the top honours season after season.
Liverpool will give Osimhen the stability he needs to get started in England, the Gegenpressing of manager Jurgen Klopp fits his own footballing DNA and they are also desperate for a proven goal scorer besides Mohamed Salah.
Erling Haaland could point to some great accomplishments at Borussia Dortmund in Germany, but in only a season in the Premier League with Manchester City, he is already an all-time great.
As regards international football, Osimhen has yet to win anything of note with the Super Eagles.
It would most probably be asking too much for him to shoot Nigeria to a fourth AFCON title from next month in Cote d’Ivoire.
But it must always be at the back of his mind that the likes of Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha and Nwankwo Kanu also remain in the hearts of millions of Nigerians many years after they have quit the game because of the major trophies they won for the country.
