Gift Orban is never far from controversy and after he scored his first league goal since August he blasted his Belgian club for trying to destroy his career.
Gift Orban was brought on in the last 15 minutes at Charleroi and converted one of the three chances he got for his first goal in the league in many months.
He showed very little emotion after his goal and after the 3-1 win by Gent, he hit hard at the club for not starting games, which he said is not good for his self-belief and career.
“I have been through difficult times,” the CAF Young Player of the Year nominee told Het Nieuwsblad .
“I don’t feel like myself anymore. Start on the bench, come on for 10 minutes, … What can I tell the club or team? Have I already spoken to the coach?”
“No. That is not necessary. He gave me confidence, I need confidence.
“I will continue to work hard, I am a professional. But I am a player who must be able to start and grow in a match. A club that will be mine won’t destroy your career. I’ll keep working. If it doesn’t work that way here, then I go elsewhere.”
Gift Orban failed to make a big-money transfer this past summer despite interest from top clubs across Europe.
