The Super Eagles will hope to extend a proud unbeaten run against Mozambique today in a friendly in Portugal even without star strikers Victor Osimhen and Kelechi Iheanacho.
Nigeria have yet to lose to the Mambas of Mozambique in four meetings – three wins and a draw.
However, the three-time African champions have yet to win a friendly in five years – seven draws and eight losses.
The Super Eagles, like Mozambique, are using the current FIFA window to prepare for next month’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe as well as the forthcoming AFCON in January.
They welcome Lesotho to Uyo on November 13, before they fly out to Zimbabwe a few days later.
The Eagles will be without Napoli star Victor Osimhen, who has returned to Italy after he injured his hamstrings in another friendly against Saudi Arabia Friday night.
Leicester City forward Iheanacho, who scored against Saudi Arabia, has also returned to England to attend to “pressing personal issues”.
Moses Simon looks good for a starting spot after he impressed when he was introduced against the Green Falcons.
Terem Moffi is also due to start after he came off the bench Friday, while Turkey-based midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru will likely make his debut.
It will be interesting who coach Jose Peseiro names in goal after Francis Uzoho fumble against the Saudis.
Maduka Okoye, Adeleye Adebayo and Olorunleke Ojo are the other goalkeepers in camp.
Mozambique will be without several players on account of a visa hitch.
Kick-off today is 4pm.
