Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi look doomed to be relegated from the Premier League with Leicester City this season after they fell 3-0 at home to Liverpool.
“I genuinely feel Leicester tonight have gone, and there’s no coming back from it,” predicted SkySports TV pundit Gary Neville.
“That’s the end of them tonight.”
(Liverpool 3-0 win) is the hammer blow,” said David Ornstein of The Athletic.
“This is really gloomy for them. They have to be relying on Everton and Forest not to pick up points.”
Ndidi, who this season has battled injuries, started Monday night’s clash, while Iheanacho is still out injured.
Leicester City have 30 points from 36 matches.
They are two points from safety and have two tough-looking games to the end of the season – away to a Newcastle team who need to win to keep alive their UEFA Champions League hopes, while their final game will be against West Ham United, who are mathematically not safe from the dreaded drop.
Last season, they finished eighth after a couple of seasons pushing for Champions League football.
Super Eagles stars Joe Aribo and Paul Onuachu have already been demoted from the Premier League with Southampton.
