Kenneth Omeruo has exclusively told SCORENigeria he is relieved after he sealed a five-year contract with La Liga side CD Leganes to end a frustrating seven years at Chelsea.
Omeruo, 25, joined Chelsea in 2012, but he never played an official game for ‘The Blues’, who preferred to ship him on loan season after season.
As first reported by SCORENigeria, Chelsea have now agreed a permanent transfer worth five million pounds to Leganes.
“This is really a huge relief for me after my seven-year relationship with Chelsea came to an end with my new deal at Leganes,” the Super Eagles defender told SCORENigeria
“I am so glad that I have now signed a permanent contract at Leganes.
“I thank my agent, Chelsea and Leganes that this deal was finally possible after Chelsea rejected previous offers by Leganes.
“Leganes wanted the deal to happen because they believe in me and I will continue to work for the team.
“It was always my wish to remain in Spain.
“I’m in the right frame of mind to join the team for the new season very soon.”
