Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti has said he expects Victor Osimhen to still be positive even if he were to start from the bench in tonight’s UEFA Champions League Group A clash against Ajax.
“He never overacted when I have put him from the bench twice,” said Spalletti.
“He was always positive, he cares more about the result of the team.
“At start of season, I told him he has to be a leader of this team, and he’s already playing that role especially with the way he behaves in training and with his relationship with the new players.”
The striker has been sidelined by a muscle injury for the past one month, but he has since rejoined the Napoli squad in full training.
Spaletti is not expected to change his team, who have been winning without Osimhen and so the Super Eagles striker will most likely have to come from the bench should it be necessary.
Last week, Napoli without him smashed past the Dutch champions 6-1.
They are also two points clear at the top of Serie A.
