Former Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has said he was disappointed Nigeria failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Rohr, who was sacked prior to the playoffs against Ghana, had predicted a 2-1 win in Abuja for the Eagles to qualify for the World Cup.
Instead, Ghana recorded a 1-1 draw in Abuja to go through to Qatar 2022 on the away goals rule after both teams played out a goalless draw in Kumasi last week.
“It was a big disappointment,” Rohr lamented.
“Nigeria have the better players than Ghana, but you have to play collectively to win.
“This is not good for Nigerian football, but I hope Nigeria will come back soon, I hope the young players come back and write a better history for Nigeria football.”
Rohr said that had he still been in charge, his target was to have led the Eagles to at least to the quarterfinal of the 2022 World Cup.
