Stand-in captain Thomas Partey and other Black Stars players have promised to qualify for the 2022 World Cup at the expense of rivals Nigeria Tuesday.
Ghana and Nigeria played out a scoreless draw in Kumasi Friday night and the Black Stars will now need to win or secure a scored draw in Abuja to qualify for Qatar 2022.
“We know we should have won this game against Nigeria but a draw is not bad. However, I know that our fans are disappointed in us as we had promised them victory,” said Partey, who stood in as captain for the suspended Andre Ayew.
“Nevertheless, it isn’t over until it is over and we promise all Ghanaians that we will go for victory in Abuja come Tuesday.”
Fellow Ghana stars Richard Ofori and Baba Idrissu have also expressed confidence of upsetting the Super Eagles to fly to Qatar.
“The guys did well, this is basically a new team, a lot of things have changed when you compare the performance of the AFCON to tonight (Friday),” said goalkeeper Richard Ofori.
“Hopefully, we will win the second leg.”
“We go again on Tuesday to get the job done at Abuja,” declared Spain-based midfielder Baba Iddrisu.
