Former NFF president Sani Lulu has backed newly elected chairman of the FCT FA, Adam Mouktar Mohammed, to move football in the capital territory to a higher level.
Last month, Mouktar Mohammed floored incumbent Musa Talle 11-4 to emerge as the new FA boss.
Lulu, who himself was previously boss of the FCT FA, said he has been encouraged by the energy and new ideas Mouktar Mohammed has for football in Abuja.
“I have implicit confidence you will succeed in leaps and bounds because of your pedigree and antecedents,” the former NFF boss told Mouktar Mohammed when the new FA chairman paid him a courtesy call today in Karshi.
“You have new ideas to lift the game and also the boundless energy to do so.”
Mouktar Mohammed, who was accompanied by FCT FA executive committee member Samuel Abimbola, praised Lulu for investing in the FOSLA Academy, which allows talented youngsters to combine football with education.
“We’re encouraged by this shining example and we in our own little way will support this worthy initiative,” said the new FCT FA.
“Sir, you have truly advanced your passion by using your hard-earned resources on what is today FOSLA.”
The FCT FA chairman also said he and board will often come around to tap from his wealth of wisdom and experience of Lulu, who besides being NFF president was also FCT FA boss and director of sports in the federal capital territory.
A special novelty match by students of the FOSLA Academy was later staged to honour the new FA boss and his executive committee.
