Officials have informed SCORENigeria that captain Mikel Obi has resumed light training in Alexandria after he suffered a knee injury, while Shehu Abdullahi returned to full squad training with the Super Eagles to show he has recovered from a hamstring problem.
Mikel was back in training Friday evening for the first time since he hurt his knee in the 2-0 loss to Madagascar on Sunday.
A scan later showed the injury was not as serious as first feared.
Yesterday Mikel was put through his paces by the team doctor when the Eagles trained behind closed doors.
The team’s other injury concern, Shehu Abdullahi, trained fully with the rest of the squad after he injured his hamstrings in the opening group game against Burundi.
His place in the team has since been taken up by Chidozie Awaziem.
