The Flying Eagles have crashed out of the football event of the 2024 African Games in Ghana after they fell 3-2 to 10-man Senegal in a final Group B match.
Halftime scores were 2-1 in favour of Senegal.
The Nigerian U20s needed a draw to make it to the last-four of the tournament and they looked on course to doing so when they drew level at 2-2 in the 50th minute.
However, Senegal scored the match winner in the 65th minute to join Uganda in the semifinals.
Overall, the Flying Eagles failed to impress with coach Ladan Bosso blaming this on the short preparation for the competition.
The quality of the players selected and poor co-ordination of the team as a whole have been highlighted.
An inquest of this failure in Ghana will therefore begin in earnest.

Bosso blames everybody for his failure but himself. One wonders what Bosso could offer for the flying eagles. We have younger coaches who could put this boys together. Bosso just stay in one village and gather all the people from “that village” into the national team. How many times has he taken us to a semi with the flying eagles? Why try what we already know the results?
Bosso can’t be blamed for this failure. It is the NFF that should be blamed.Over 20 years ago Bosso took the flying eagles to a World Cup tournament, lost woefully and blamed it on racism from FIFA.2024, Bosso was on his own yet NFF called him for this appointment
A blind semi-illiterate coach with an outdated football mentality
The moment I saw the line up in our first match I knew they won’t go far.
You select a coach base on ethnic affiliations and he selected players on same bases and you hope for good.. make una dey play.
