Zambia have said they are still waiting on CAF as regards the country’s willingness to host the 2021 U17 AFCON after the tournament originally to be staged in Morocco was cancelled on account of Coronavirus concerns.
“The U17 AFCON is in the hands of CAF, but they have not yet formally given us a response,” said spokesman for The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ), Sydney Mungala.
“On our part, we have put in our bid that relies heavily on the successful hosting of the U20 AFCON (in 2017).”
The Zambia U17s returned to the country last week from Morocco after CAF ruled that the U17 AFCON has been canceled.
Their Nigerian counterparts, the Golden Eaglets, have also quit their training camp in Abuja.
They would have opened their campaign against Tanzania in Morocco yesterday.
