Barcelona and Spain star Lamine Yamal has said he is the best player in the world and deserves to win his first Ballon d’Or this year.
Yamal was world champion with Spain this summer and retained the La Liga title with Barça.
With 16 goals and 11 assists, he was of great value to the Catalans, but the winger was less able to make his mark on La Roja. He scored only once at the World Cup.
“To whom would I give the Golden Ball? To the best player in the world,” the 19-year-old Spaniard told Movistar .
“For me, Mbappé and I are the two best players in the world, and this year I deserve it for what I have won.”
He added: “To me, that is clear, and everyone who watches the matches knows that.
“My work with Barça and the national team has been fantastic. I stand a chance, I have had a great year. But we shall see. I don’t think I need to campaign.”
