Former Nigeria star Yakubu Aiyegbeni has taken a dig at Ghana by offering for the Super Eagles to give their rivals some top strikers ahead of next week’s Titanic World Cup playoffs involving both countries.
Yakubu said the Eagles are overloaded with top-rate strikers, while that is not the case with the Black Stars of Ghana.
“We (Nigeria) have about nine strikers. Ghana don’t have strikers, so we can even spare them some,” he told Joy FM of Ghana.
The former Middlesbrough striker further took a jibe at Ghana by saying that while non-qualification to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar will be a massive disaster for Nigeria, it will not be so for Ghana.
“Just imagine Nigeria not qualifying for the World Cup?,” he asked.
“Ghana not qualifying for the World Cup is not a big deal.”
Ghana welcome the Eagles to Kumasi on Friday with the return leg in Abuja four days later.
The overall winners of the playoffs will march on to the World Cup in Qatar in November.
