Nigeria World Cup goalkeeper Francis Uzoho has dropped to No 3 at the AFCON in Egypt, according to Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr.
Rohr told reporters in Alexandria that it is currently a straight fight between Daniel Akpeyi and Ikechukwu Ezenwa for the No 1 shirt.
However, Rohr revealed that Ezenwa’s claim for the starting shirt suffered a big blow when he suffered a knee injury in training in Asaba.
Kaizer Chiefs shot stopper Akpeyi was therefore in goal when Nigeria pipped Burundi 1-0 at the weekend.
He pulled off several saves to justify to his selection on the night.
Rohr has said the former Warri Wolves star will again be in goal against Guinea this afternoon.
The Eagles coach admitted 20-year-old Uzoho was to blame for Seychelles goal against his team in March in Asaba.
That blunder has since worked against the young goalkeeper.
