Coach Aliyu Zubairu has said he believes that the Flying Eagles 2-1 win over U20 AFCON hosts Egypt in a test game will improve his team going into the tournament proper.
Strikers Kparobo Arierhi and Precious Benjamin hit target for the Flying Eagles to announce their arrival in Egypt ahead of the U20 AFCON, which kicks off Sunday in Cairo.
Coach Zubairu said what was most crucial from the friendly was that he could now work on some of the shortcomings he noticed before their opening Group B match against Tunisia on May 1.
“I don’t think the result makes any difference,” he maintained.
“The match was just for evaluation.
“The positives we took from the game were enormous and they will guide us to improve on the deficiencies observed.”
He further said he was satisfied with how quickly the team have adapted to the weather in Egypt.
