Chidozie Awaziem has said he hopes the Super Eagles reverse last week’s loss to Cameroon with victory tonight as it will boost team confidence.
“We want to win the game because it will help our confidence, it will help the team and it will help the coach as well to build his team,” the Portugal-based defender said ahead of tonight’s second friendly against the Indomitable Lions in Vienna, Austria.
He said the team were disappointed to go down 1-0 to their rivals on Friday.
“It was a good test for us because we have a bigger task (2022 World Cup qualifiers), so the game was a big test but the problem was that we lost the game, which everybody was not happy about,” Awaziem offered.
“We know we had a good game because everybody gave their best to ensure that we got victory or a draw, but at the end we lost.
“It was a good game because we could see the ability of everyone and know how to prepare for the World Cup.”
In the meantime, goalkeeper Francis Uzoho has assured he will be at his best when he starts tonight ahead of Maduka Okoye.
“Nigerians should expect my best, like I always give whenever I get the opportunity to play,” he said.
“So that is the same thing they should expect from me.”
