Watford manager Claudio Ranieri has hinted that Emmanuel Dennis may not be released for the AFCON because the Super Eagles invited the winger outside the deadline.
“The national team didn’t respect the time for the player to receive invitation (for AFCON),” Ranieri said at his press conference after the 4-1 home loss to West Ham Tuesday night.
“We have to wait and see.”
After his superb strike Tuesday night against West Ham, Dennis has now scored eight goals and provided five assists, which amounts to 55% of Watford goals in the Premier League this season.
Only Mohamed Salah of Liverpool has more direct goals involvement in the Premier League this season than Dennis.
His goals and assists will be crucial in Watford survival in the Premier League.
Dennis himself has said he is proud to be recalled by the Super Eagles after he last played against Sierra Leone in an AFCON qualifier in November 2020.
