When the Super Eagles forced Russia to a 1-1 draw in a friendly in June 2025, the NFF were reportedly paid over $500,000 as match fee, while the players did not receive a dime for their sweat.
The question now is whether the Super Eagles will play for free again when both teams clash on October 6 at the Nizhy Novgorod Stadium.
It is understood that the NFF have again received a huge match fee for the forthcoming match in Russia.
Coach Eric Chelle plans to use the Russia friendly to try out several prospective players for the country’s Olympic team ahead of the U23 AFCON qualifiers beginning in November.
