Paul Onuachu’s injury problems at KRC Genk could well hand compatriot Stephen Odey a second chance to impress at the Belgian club.
Onuachu was withdrawn just before kick-off from the starting XI at the weekend no thanks to a low back pain.
The giant striker, who has had to overcome Coronavirus, has not been able to train this week as a result of the problem leading some experts to suggest that Odey be given another chance at the club.
Odey has not made the matchday squad for the first four league games amid reports he could be shipped out on loan as he has failed to live up to expectations since he joined up with Swiss side FC Zurich last summer.
Fellow striker Cyriel Dessers has also struggled for form after a head injury in training.
He missed a penalty in the home loss to Club Brugge and also failed to put away the chances that fell his way.
The international window will afford Genk some valuable time to resolve this strikers’ crisis.
