Head of the NFF technical department Augustine Eguavoen may now be the man to lead the Super Eagles for the opening 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda next month as the football federation have spectacularly failed to appoint a new coach for the national team.
SCORENigeria learnt that even though Tom Saintfiet was shortlisted for the top post, the NFF have only in the last few days opened serious negotiations with him.
He is currently in charge of the Philippines and will need some time to quit his present position.
That would mean, the Super Eagles will be without a coach before then.
It would be recalled that Eguavoen was the stop-gap Super Eagles coach when Gernot Rohr was sacked in 2021.
The former Super Eagles captain will then be the one who led the country to the delayed 2021 AFCON, which was played in Cameroon two years ago.
He was also in charge for the ill-fated 2022 World Cup playoffs against Ghana.
Already his technical department in conjunction with a top team official has compiled the provisional squad for the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.

Anyway. If the long shoot comes from Benin republic super eagles keeper shud be ready to push it away in early minutes of first half or it wil enter the net .
If it is eagles that plays the long shot,it. Shud be place at an angle where the Benin keeper can’t teach early in the game because that could be the only goal that day . .for further assistance on wat wil go on in the game . I m here . If dey like bring man city coach with one million pounds this is wat is going to happen.
