Ecuador technical director Gustavo Alfaro has revealed why they chose to play the Super Eagles in a friendly early Friday night in New Jersey, USA.
Alfaro said Ecuador are pitched against Senegal at the 2022 World Cup and Nigeria are similar to the fellow West Africans.
“The match is very important because we will face rivals that play similar way to the teams we will play at World Cup,” Alfaro.
“Nigeria is an African rival like Senegal.
“We have a great responsibility and commitment to represent the dreams of the entire country.
“The players must show me on the field they deserve to be at the World Cup.”
