The deal has finally been done and OGC Nice have broken their transfer record to sign Terem Moffi for €30 Million including achievable bonuses.
A formal announcement will be made later today after the striker passed a routine medical.
Negotiations with FC Lorient were long drawn and eventually ambitious Nice met the valuation of the player by his club on the seventh attempt.
Moffi had the choice to join Olympique Marseille, who had already met his financial valuation, but he was fully sold on the career plan Nice designed specially for him.
It was good enough for him to pass off serious interests in the Premier League in England as well as the Spanish La Liga.
Serie A champions AC Milan also wanted him, but only by the summer.
“He will be the corner piece of Nice,” a top source close to the player told only SCORENigeria
“Nice, on their own part, want to be playing in the UEFA Champions League season after season and they believe his goals will make this possible.
“In the summer, they will buy more quality players to support him to achieve their objectives.”
South of France club Nice have the cash to splash after INEOS Group Limited, the fourth largest multinational chemicals company in the world and based in London, bought them over in August 2019.
INEOS, which has been involved in professional cycling and is owned by Jim Ratcliffe, bought the Ligue 1 club for 100 Million Euros.
The market value of Nice by the 2022/2023 season was about 235 Million Euros.
