But for the fact that the Super Eagles traveled to Benin on a chartered boat ride Everton star Alex Iwobi would still have been detained by the authorities there after he tested positive for Covid-19, officials informed SCORENigeria
Iwobi is believed to have returned to Nigeria with the rest of the squad and will continue his quarantine until another Covid test is carried out on the whole team on Monday, 48 hours before their final qualifier against Lesotho in Lagos.
It would be recalled that the three officials and three players who tested positive during the recent U17 AFCON qualifiers in Togo were detained in that country even beyond the competition until they had all posted two negative tests.
This was because the team travelled to Togo on a regular flight, a top official explained to SCORENigeria
