Reasons have been given to why former Chelsea sports director Michael Emenalo may have rejected a chance to join Newcastle United in a similar role.
It is claimed that Emenalo turned down Newcastle because it was not a good fit for him and ‘The Magpies’ do not match his ambitions.
It had nothing to do with the team’s current position on the Premier League table.
The former Super Eagles defender was top favourite for the Newcastle top job.
The ex-Enugu Rangers central defender even traveled to Saudi Arabia for talks with Newcastle United top officials and after detailed negotiations with director Amanda Staveley, he declined the offer.
One of Roman Abramovich’s trusted lieutenants during his 10-year association with ‘The Blues’, Emenalo oversaw the signings of 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winners Kenneth Omeruo and Victor Moses.
The 56-year-old Emenalo has been out of work since leaving Monaco in 2019.
