Skipper Yahaya Ibrahim was bullish in his celebration after the Flying Eagles fought back to force Nasarawa United to a 1-1 draw in a test game today at the FIFA Goal Project in Abuja.
“Who is Nasarawa United!?” screamed the Flying Eagles captain after Olamilekan Adams delivered a late equaliser to salvage a draw with Nasarawa United and ensure an eight-game unbeaten run.
It was Adams’ second successive goal after the Remo Stars winger hit target against Wikki Thursday.
Nasarawa took the lead late in the first half from the penalty spot after the referee adjudged their striker was fouled inside the box.
It was the most competitive match the Flying Eagles have played thus far in this training camp as Nasarawa United gave as much as they got, unlike their fellow NPFL rivals Wikki Tourists the previous day.
Coach Ladan Bosso tweaked the starting XI from the previous day with Nathaniel Tambi, Augustine Njoku, Abdulrahman Adam, Jude Sunday, Segun Otusanya all on from the kick-off.
Daniel Daga, Solomon Agbalaka, Onuche Ogbule and Benjamin Frederick started for the second straight game.
Nasarawa were very physical as the referee lost control of the proceedings several times and also matched their opponents with some good football.
But late in the game as the Flying Eagles chased a winning goal, the tiring NPFL club resorted to some delay antics to become the first team to get a result against the national U20s.
The Flying Eagles will play their final test game by 7am tomorrow against Lobi Stars after which they will break training camp to resume in the first week of next month.
