The NFF technical committee will meet tomorrow in Abuja to decide on a new foreign coach for the Super Eagles.
SCORENigeria can report that the meeting will begin at 12 noon at the NFF head office.
“A decision has to now be taken on a new foreign coach for the Super Eagles, there is no more time to waste,” a top official told only SCORENigeria
The identity of the new coach is under wraps, it was further gathered.
NFF technical director Augustine Eguavoen has been in temporary charge of the Super Eagles during which time he qualified the country to the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.
This was after the German Bruno Labbadia walked out on an agreement to be the new coach of the Super Eagles.
The new foreign coach will lead Nigeria through what is now a very difficult 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign as they languish second from bottom of their group with three points from four matches, meaning they have dropped a staggering nine points.
The qualifiers resume in March with Super Eagles flying out to Rwanda before a home game against bottom team Zimbabwe.
Already, the Federal Government will shortly set up a Presidential Support Group (PSG) that will most likely be headed by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma to ensure the Super Eagles turn around their tottering World Cup campaign.
The new coach will end up qualifying naija for the world cup through the best loser play off.
What a pity.
BUT WHY NIGERIA ALWAYS LIKE TO BE DELAYING THINGS.
I COULD ALSO REMEMBERED THAT BUHARI DELAYED THE APPOINTMENT OF MINISTERS DURING HIS FIRST TENURE OF HIS REGIME. WHILE HIS PARTY CLAIMING THAT HE WANT TO SELECT BETTER PEOPLE. BUT AT THE END OF THE EIGHT YEARS, HE END UP IN SUPERLATIVE FAILURE, LEAVING THE WHOLE NIGERIA INTO PRECARIOUS DIFFICULT.
LIKEWISE ALSO, THE WAY NFF IS GOING BY DELAYING THE APPOINTMENT OF FOREIGN COACH, THEY WILL END UP IN EMPLOYING A WRONG CANDIDATE AND FAIL TO QUALIFY FOR BOTH AFCON & WORLD CUP, PUTTING THE WHOLE NIGERIA INTO DASH
We must not deceive ourselves the best coach for the super eagles now is foreign coach.The reason we have not got it right all these while is because all the foreign coaches Nigeria Hired in the last decades were low and quack coaches with low or poor portfolio. When herves Renard was available why Nigeria couldn’t go for him, when Claude Leroy was Knocking why Nigeria couldn’t go for him like wise Milosevic etc, so wrong appointment of foreign coaches has been the problem in my own opinion. If the NFA want to get it right , they should appoint a sound,credible, tactical,discipline and goal oriented Coach for the super eagles.Also in his contract NFA must muddling into his team selections all entitlement must be fulfilled as at when due. I promise you nigeria football will be catapulted to the next level.
NFF SHOULD EMPLOY A GOOD STANDARD FOREIGN COACH THAT KNOWS ABOUT AFRICAN FOOTBALL & PLAYERS THAT IS HIGHLY TECHNICAL & BE RESPECTED BY PLAYERS.
THE REASON WHY SOME EX-PLAYERS AND SOME PRESENT SUPER EAGLE PLAYERS ARE IN SUPPORT OF INDIGENOUS COACH(especially Equaveon) IS BECAUSE THAT, IT WILL BE VERY EASY FOR THEM TO PENETRATE IN HIM, CONTROLLING HIM & DICTATING TO HIM WHEN IT COMES TO PLAYERS SELECTION, WHICH IT CANNOT BE POSSIBLE ON FOREIGN COACH. ALSO, IT WILL BE VERY EASY TO DO BUSINESS BY INTRODUCING PLAYERS TO INDIGENOUS COACH AFTER COLLECTING BRIBE FROM SUCH PLAYERS.
** NOTE: We should not be deceiving ourselves in this country because of the way things work for other countries (e.g. Democracy work well in America, S/Africa, Ghana but it doesn’t work well in Nigeria).
THE WAY THINGS WORK FOR COACH H. SHEHATA(EGYPT), COACH ALIOU CISSE(SENEGAL), COACH EMERSE FAE(IVORY COAST) BY WINNING AFCON FOR THEIR COUNTY (and also qualified for next AFCON easily) MAY NOT WORK IN NIGERIA DUE TO CORRUPTION, IMPROPER PLANNING, LACK OF STRUCTURES, BAD MANAGEMENT.
IN NIGERIA, WE ARE TOO RELIGIONISTIC, REGIONISTIC, TRIBALISTIC & SENTIMENTAL.
EVEN when Keshi won AFCON in 2013, he failed woefully to qualified for next AFCON due to bad management(Pinnick VS Giwa), sentiment, jealous, hatred towards some players (e.g. Yobo, I.K. uche, V.moses).
**** NFF SHOULD GO FOR THE BEST COACH.***
What matters most is to move our football forward & not stop celebrating FLUKE WINNING again. We struggle/manage to beat CIV by penalty in AFCON group stage. But E/guinea beat CIV 4-0 convincingly.
*** KESHI WON AFCON IN 2013, BUT WE CANNOT BOAST OF PLAYERS, THE TEAM FOR THE FUTURE (for instance: Sunday MBA, Uzoenyi, Oshaniwa, Agbim are nowhere to be found in future football). AND NIGERIA FAILED TO QUALIFIED FOR NEXT TWO CONSECUTIVE AFCON.

The reason eagles haven’t won a game in the qualifying series of the world cup is over confidence.
And it will still happen in coming games . They wil score a goal and go to rest . In the remaining mins of the game. And their opponent will score in that moment.
Check all games they have played .. even if the win Rwanda away their next game could be a draw . They can’t win 3 games in a row .
