The 24-year-old Okonkwo will most certainly bring more competition in the Super Eagles goalkeeping department, a departure from when the third-choice goalkeeper in the squad is often just to fill quota for a player in the domestic league.
He will be the younger of Stanley Nwabali and Maduka Okoye and so will be the future of the national team.
He spent 12 years at the famous Arsenal Academy and so he has a great foundation of a modern-day shot stopper.
Okonkwo is also fully equipped to play at the top level as he is the No 1 choice at Wrexham, who feature in the English Championship and are even currently in the promotion playoffs bracket.
He will therefore not be intimidated playing at full international level with the Super Eagles.
Also, he is agile to make up for not being a giant goalkeeper, commands his area well and has shown to be a good penalty kick stopper.
